About An Design House

An began with an appreciation for materials that still had value, and a desire to make useful things. The Mekong Delta is the source of our materials, our people and our approach to craft.

From An Decor to An Design House.

Beginning with Nhường Bùi’s first decor shop, requests for tables, chairs and cabinets led An towards furniture design and production. In 2020, An opened its Cai Lay workshop in Tien Giang, gaining greater involvement in making and finishing.

Reclaimed wood in our furniture

Timber from retired wooden boats is dismantled, sorted and prepared before it is made into furniture. Its grain, nail marks and varied tones give each piece its own character.

Chú Ba — a master carpenter at An

From a family with three generations of carpenters, Chú Ba brings an understanding of grain and structure to the pieces he makes. His story is part of the beginnings of An’s Cai Lay workshop: a place for makers to practise their craft, pass on experience and earn a living through their skills.

From the workshop to a living space.

Designers, makers and the project team follow a piece from its drawings through to installation. For An, a material’s value is fully realised when the furniture suits the people who live with it.
